Working on the first of a series of writings dedicated to the exploration and celebration of creativity and consciousness, Denise reflects upon the insatiable curiosity, creativity and audacious spirit of eighteen five year-olds from across the globe. Signs, symbols and the unique gestural flavor of each child mark the fabric of their shared experience in the painting anthology One Before Words initiated during a month long artist residency at the Lucid Art Foundation deep in the heart of the Bishop Pine Preserve. Denise's forthcoming analogue of correlated musings reflects as well upon the seminal acts of her youth and the slender silver thread that winds through time, place, form and feeling inside the myriad adventures that inform, infuse and direct her artistic life.
